Anthony "Tony" Shell passed away in Mercy Hospital on May 11th in Rogers, AR at the age of 53.
Tony is survived by his father, Jerry Shell of Bentonville, AR; wife, Sandra Shell; children Stephen Shell, Spencer Shell, Emily Collins (Charlie), and Lauren Shell; brothers Alan Shell (Melissa) of Nashville, TN and Randy Shell (Amy) of Bentonville, AR; in-laws, Kenneth and Farra Bell of Rutherford, TN; brothers and sisters in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Nellie Shell of Bentonville, AR.
Tony was born on May 6th, 1968 in Columbia, MO to Jerry and Nellie Shell. He grew up in Benton, IL where he graduated from Benton Consolidated High School in 1986. He attended Freed-Hardeman University and graduated in 1991 with a degree in Computer Science. He married Sandra, his college sweetheart, in June of 1991. They began a family and welcomed four children into their home and set about teaching them the Word of God. His children remember him as fun-loving, goofy, and their greatest coach.
Tony was a passionate individual who loved to watch his children compete. He coached several basketball, baseball, softball, and track teams for each child. He was an active member of the Downtown Church of Christ where he served as a deacon.
A memorial is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 15th at the Downtown Church of Christ in Rogers, AR (201 W Chestnut St). Visitation will begin at 9:30. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tony's life. As you all know, Tony loved seeing his children compete. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to institutions that were dear to him. Freed-Hardeman Men's Basketball, Harding University Track and Field, or Providence Academy Student Scholarship Fund.
