IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Avoyn
Forga
September 21, 1931 – April 17, 2024
Dr. Avoyn Forga, 92, of Lowell, Arkansas, went to be with his Heavenly Father on April 17th, 2024.
He was born in Glenwood, Arkansas on September 21st, 1931, to William Sheridan and Jewel Forga. Up until the day he died, he expressed that one of the dearest people in the world was his mother. He was fourth of seven siblings and always joked about being the smallest brother which was unfortunate because one of his greatest dreams was to be a collegiate basketball player. He attended Caddo Gap School and graduated in 1950, where he got the opportunity to play basketball.
After High School, Avoyn was drafted into the Air Force during the Korean War, where he was a dental tech. This started his life-long interest for dental care. The GI Bill allowed him to attend college at the University of Arkansas.
At the University of Arkansas where he studied for four years, graduated and went on to attend the University of Tennessee for Dentistry. Avoyn served many, many years as a dentist in many different capacities. He opened up a dentist practice in Rogers, Arkansas where he loved and served the Northwest Arkansas community for 40 years. This included and was not limited to going on several mission trips to care for the needy, volunteering in the community with free dental care for the underserved and leaving an indomitable impression on his grandchildren on the importance of flossing.
Avoyn among many things was an avid Razorback fan, he especially loved basketball and never missed a home game at Barnhill Arena. He also was a big car enthusiast. He was so concerned about keeping his cars clean, that he would clean them with a toothbrush. Avoyn had many things he enjoyed, but by far the biggest passion of his life was his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Avoyn gave his heart to Jesus at age 30, when he realized that he was a sinner who needed a savior. Avoyn attended First Baptist of Rogers for over 50 years and was very involved. One of his favorite things was being involved in bus ministry where he said, "Our greatest concern is to get as many children in church as possible and to teach them the gospel." Avoyn's heartbeat was for the lost to know Christ and he lived that out every day, sharing with anyone who would listen to him.
Avoyn was preceded in death by his parents, his six siblings, his wife of over 40 years, Maxine Forga, and countless other friends and family throughout the years. He is survived by his three daughters: Lisa Bourke (Forga) and her husband Pat Bourke, Pam Forga, and Jill Forga. His four grandchildren; Megan Shearin (Bourke) and husband Brad Shearin, Hunter Bourke and wife Lauren Case, Adam VanLangingham and Erika Edwards. And his four great-grandchildren, who had the privilege of getting to meet him.
His celebration of life service is Monday, April 22, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Rogers - Olive Street. Followed by a private graveside service at the Fayetteville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be made in the memory of "Dr. Avoyn Forga" to the 7Hills Homeless Shelter or Samaritan Community Center or a local charity of your choice that serves the less fortunate of our community.
