Betty Jean Roberts, age 82 of Gravette, passed away July 9, 2011 at Ozark Community Hospital of Gravette. Betty was born April 15, 1929 at Beaty, Arkansas to parents Vernie E. Schickling and Lucile Harris Schickling. She grew up in the Gravette area, graduating from Gravette High School in 1947. Betty was united in marriage to Melvin LeRoy Roberts on August 9, 1947 at Beaty, Arkansas. They enjoyed nearly 64 years of marriage. Betty was also well know in the Gravette community, where she worked many years at both the Greenway Drug Store and the current Austin Drug Store. Betty enjoyed stitching, flowers and spending time with her family. Betty was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Melvin Roberts of the home in Gravette; sons, Terry Roberts and wife Barbara of Gravette, Ron Roberts and Linda Turner of Rogers; daughters, Carolyn Bryant of Weatherford, Texas and Donna Austin and husband Bill of Gravette; grandchildren, Brad Roberts of Bentonville, Brandi Harris of Keller, Texas, Kaitlyn Howard of Lipan, Texas, Colby Roberts of Gravette, Amy Roberts of Gravette and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral Services are set for 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at the Church of Christ in Gravette, interment will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery of Gravette. Minister Randall Caselman will officiate. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening at the Church of Christ in Gravette from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home of Rogers is handling arrangements.
