Obituary

Billy Alvin Ball, born on September 24th, 1934, in Johnson, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024, at the age of 90, in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Bill began working at a young age, driving trucks for Willis Shaw, growing his passion for cars and scenic drives down Route 66. He would go on to sell insurance at Southland Security, sell cars at Randall Sanders Ford and Buddy Sparks Chevrolet in Rogers, then purchase his own dealership with his brother Jim - kickstarting a successful career at Benton County Chrysler Dodge, where he would receive many awards and achievements. After retirement, Bill and his wife Leona embarked on numerous travels, exploring the grandeur of National Parks, and the diverse cultures of Alaska, Hawaii, Europe, and many other places. Often making these journeys family affairs, driving his daughter and grandkids cross-country in their motorhome.

In spare time, Bill had a passion for horses, leaving Rogers to attend to his farm in Missouri where he would breed, raise, and sell quarter horses - many going on to win in their races. He had quite the sweet tooth and could be found in the kitchen teaching his grandkids to bake cookies and pies. And even up until his passing, Bill loved the chance to crack a good joke.

Most commonly observed by others was Bill's protective nature of his family and those he loved, and his heart of gold when it came to helping others. He was a strong-willed, encouraging, passionate, and proud father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. Bill's life, legacy, and infectious laugh will be cherished and remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughters, Della Peters, Gogi (Raymond) Reynolds, and Sandi Ball Carpenter; grandchildren, Bryan (Barbara) Ball, Trudy (Travis) Walts, Jamie (Lenz) Wentz, Jordan Carpenter, and Cade Carpenter; brother and sister-in-law, Milton and Brenda Ball; brother-in-law, Gene Phillips; sister-in-law, Sue Ball; and 13 nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Mae Ball; parents, Alvin and Jewel Ball; sisters and brother-in-laws, June and Clyde Bohannan, Shirley and Roger Gross; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Tommie Ball; brother, Darrel Ball; son-in-law, Richard Peters; and daughter, Sheila Ball.

Bill will be laid to rest next to his wife, Leona, at Benton County Memorial Park in Rogers, Arkansas.
