He was a loving father and grandfather who treasured the time he spent with his family.
Billy Joe Douglas, 95, of Pea Ridge, Arkansas, passed away Monday, September 28, 2026. He was born November 30, 1930, in Mount Vernon, Illinois, to Andrew and Sally Douglas. Billy proudly served in the United States Army from 1949 until 1952 and received an honorable discharge at the rank of Corporal. He trained in Signal School as a radio operator and later worked as a radio mechanic, spending more than a year overseas. Radio stayed with him long after his service, and he liked sharing what he knew about Morse code. After the Army he worked in sales and later taught electronics. He had a knack for fixing things and could usually get something working again, whether it was an old television, a computer, or a bicycle someone had set aside. He also volunteered at a hospice resale shop, repairing items so they could be sold to help the organization. Billy enjoyed ham radio and bass fishing, and he often took his children with him when he traveled for work selling lake property. He earned his master’s degree in education from Southern Illinois University. He was a loving father and grandfather who treasured the time he spent with his family.
He is survived by his children, Barbara Gable and her husband, Dave; Carol Sheetz and her husband, Patrick; Wesley Douglas; Rich Douglas and his wife, Claudia; Stephanie Asencio Douglas; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; along with other family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
