Obituary

Billy L. Wheeler, age 84 of Bella Vista, Arkansas for over 21 years and was formerly of Wichita, Kansas and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the Circle of Life Hospice Home at Legacy Village in Bentonville, Arkansas. Billy was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on September 14, 1929 to Henry and Gertrude (Whittecar) Wheeler and graduated from North High High School in Wichita, Kansas. Billy served his country in the United States Army/Air Corps during WWII and the Korean Conflict and received an honorable discharge. On March 30, 1973 he married Lois Hempsmyer-Metcalf in Wichita, Kansas and they were married for over 40 years before his death. He worked as a blueprint reproducer supervisor for many years and was a member of Highland Christian Church, DOC in Bella Vista, Arkansas. Billy enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels in Bella Vista and was very active in Sports; bowling, softball, umpiring, and golf. Preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Kenneth and Ronnie Wheeler; and one sister, Goldie Wheeler; Billy is survived by his wife Lois of the home; one son, Kevin Metcalf and wife Brenda of Merriam, Kansas; five daughters, Vicki Hardaway of Derby, Kansas; Becky Arrington of Wichita, Kansas; Kathy LaMere and husband Loren of Columbia, Missouri; Pamela Scott and husband Dan of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Annette Metcalf-Coffel and husband William, Sr. of Harvest, Alabama; two brothers, Richard Wheeler and wife Peggy of Wichita, Kansas; LeRoy Wheeler and wife Jan of Winfield, Kansas; three sisters, LaVerne Jessup and husband Duane of Wichita, Kansas; Nancy Smith of Mulvane, Kansas; Bessie Brown of Bentonville, Arkansas; twelve grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Memorial services were held Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Highland Christian Church, DOC in Bella Vista Arkansas.
