Cecil B. Lane, age 91, a resident of Lowell, Arkansas and formerly of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011 at the Circle of Life Hospice Care in Springdale, Arkansas. Cecil was born in Felsenthal, Arkansas on December 5, 1919 to Samuel R. and Maybelle (Beck) Lane. On March 12, 1943 he married Betty Cathey in Yuma, Arizona and they were married for over 68 years before his death. Cecil served his country in the United States Army during WWII and for many years worked for the Civil Service as an UNIVAC instructor at Blytheville and Jacksonville Air Force Bases. Cecil enjoyed gardening, boating and fishing, tinkering with things, and spending time with his family and he will be missed very much. Preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Cecil is survived by his wife Betty J. (Cathey) Lane of the home in Lowell, Arkansas; one son, James B. Lane and wife Sue of Lowell, Arkansas; two brothers, Sam Lane and wife Lucille of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Jack Lane of Russellville, Arkansas; one sister, Bea Timmerman of Russellville, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Tim Lane and wife Catherine of Garfield, Arkansas; Carla Key of Lowell, Arkansas; four great grandchildren, Jeremy, Bryant, Cara, and Brittany; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services for Cecil B. Lane will be on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 10:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Lowell, Arkansas (PO BOX 246 - 409 Johnson Ave, Lowell AR 72745) with Pastor Gary E. Thomas officiating. Visitation will be from 8:00 am to 10:00 am before services on Wednesday. There will be a private interment at the Forest Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Little Rock, Arkansas.
