Donald Charles Filter, 92, of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2025 in Bentonville, Arkansas. He was born February 9, 1933, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to the late Herman and Arala Bertha Braun Filter. After graduating from Shorewood High School, Donald served in The U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany, where he trained and served as an Army cook. Following his discharge, Don married Rosalie Van Antwerp at The United Brethren Church in Richfield, Wisconsin.
Donald was a home delivery milkman for Golden Guernsey Dairy in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. When the dairy stopped doing home delivery, he worked as a dry wall installer. Donald and Rosalie moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas, in 1988. Donald enjoyed fishing, golfing and traveling in their RV. He had a hole in one in 1994 on Bella Vista's Berksdale Golf Course.
Donald and Rosalie traveled for several years in their RV visiting forty-eight of the fifty states. After this, they returned to Bentonville, Arkansas, and began attending Messiah Lutheran Church in Pea Ridge, Arkansas. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his son, David Filter; three sisters, Dorthea Filter, Audrey Filter and Geraldine Miller Malloy.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalie; two daughters, Debbie Atherton of Bentonville, Sherry Kuczkowski, and her husband, Steven, of Wind Lake, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Justin Atherton, Christi Brotzman, David Filter, Angelika Filter and Jacob Kuczkowski; two great granddaughters, Elizabeth Reed Brotzman and Colette Camille Atherton; three great grandsons, James Formby, Sebastian Brotzman and Gabriel Brotzman; one daughter-in-law, Rhonda Filter of Elkhorn, Wisconsin.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 4, 2025, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 15315 AR-94, Pea Ridge, Arkansas 72751, with Pastor Richard Mayer officiating. Interment will follow at Benton County Memorial Park with full military honors. The family requests memorials be made to Messiah Lutheran Church.
