Obituary

Donald Raymond "Pete" Goodart, age 83 and a longtime resident of Avoca passed away Thursday, October 18, 2012 at the Circle of Life Legacy Village Hospice in Bentonville. Pete was born and raised in Rogers on December 18, 1928 to Todd and Florence (Shaddox) Goodart. He served his country in the United States Army and was a war veteran of the Korean Conflict and received the Korean Service Medal and two Bronze Service Stars. On Friday the 13th of January, 1950 Pete married Margaret Ruth Wobbe in Rogers and they were married for over 62 years before his death. Pete worked for the Sunbeam Diary from the early 40's to the mid 60's when it closed and he also worked as a fishing guide on the White River which later became Beaver Lake and managed marinas at Prairie Creek and Lost Bridge. He also was a member of the Brightwater Masonic Lodge. Pete was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, gardening, was a prize winning canner, and he loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren and he will be missed very much. Preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clayton Duckworth and Bobby Gene Goodart; one sister, Betty Jo Cline; and one son-in-law, Jurdon Taylor; Pete is survived by his wife Margaret of the home; one son, Andy Goodart and wife Heidi of Rogers; four daughters, Nancy Goodart of Avoca; Donna Mills and her spouse Wade of Lowell; Sharon Kay Taylor of Bentonville; Sara Martfeld and husband Chris of Pea Ridge; one sister, Ina Sue Webster and husband Lloyd of Muskogee, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, Michael McKinney and wife Brenda; Christy Kelley; Amy Kelley; Gretchen Shriver and husband David; Derek Taylor; Danielle Cooper and husband Brent; Amanda Meeker and husband Andy; Ashley Henderson and husband Rory; Ensign Alex Martfeld of the United States Coast Guard; six great grandchildren, Jala and Caitlin Kelley; Alan and Dillon Cooper; Adalie Henderson; Austin Meeker; one great great granddaughter, Alexis Raucstadt; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Benton County Memorial Park (3800 W. Walnut) in Rogers. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Monday, October 22, 2012 at Benton County Memorial Park's Funeral Home Chapel (3800 W. Walnut) in Rogers. Interment will follow at Benton County Memorial Park with Army military honors.
