Doreen Sue Sykes, a devoted mother, sister, and lifelong resident of Northwest Arkansas, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026, at Fayetteville Health and Rehab in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Born on March 11, 1959, in Springdale, Arkansas, Doreen lived a life marked by quiet strength, dedication, and faith.
Doreen was a hardworking woman who contributed many years to her community through her work in housekeeping at Fayetteville City Hospital. Her commitment to caring for others was evident both in her profession and in the warmth she extended to her loved ones.
A faithful Christian from her youth, Doreen grew up in the Nazarene church and found spiritual nourishment attending local Methodist churches throughout her life. Her faith was an integral part of who she was, guiding her through life’s challenges and joys.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald Ray Sykes, with whom she shared many years of companionship. Doreen was also preceded in death by her parents, William Harris and Mary Jo McCurley, and her brother, Randall Lee Harris, all of whom held a cherished place in her heart.
Doreen leaves behind two sons, Stephen Andrew King and Cory Ray Sykes, who were the pride and joy of her life. She is also survived by her brother, Tommy Harris; her nieces, Christina Meredith, Mary Anne Reed, and Bethany Smith; her nephew, William Harris; and many great nieces and nephews who will remember her kindness and gentle spirit.
A visitation to honor Doreen’s life will be held on May 22, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Benton County Memorial Park located at 3800 W Walnut St, Rogers, Arkansas 72756. This gathering will provide family, friends, and the community an opportunity to come together to celebrate a life well-lived and to share memories of a woman who touched many hearts.
