Obituary

On December 17, 2020, Doris Irene Digate (born on July 3rd, 1925) passed away quietly at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Arkansas due to complications from COVID 19. She was a loving wife to Joseph Digate (deceased), daughter of Adele Icenogle (deceased and formerly Frederick) sister to James Icenogle (deceased), sister-in-law to Gretchen Icenogle (deceased), grandmother, great grandmother and aunt to many on both sides of her long term and happy marriage. She is survived by her two sons Tom and Chuck Digate, their wives Beth and Debbie, her grandchildren Cara Ley, Juli Steinhouse and Abby Digate as well as her great granddaughter Amelia Steinhouse. Her nieces Karen, Jan, Sue and Kathy were also important to her and dearly loved. Doris was a voracious reader and always willing to engage in lively discussions. Her knitting skills were important to her as she created so many wonderful items for her family and friends. She loved to play bridge and most other games, enjoying the competition and social dynamics. Later in life, the Public Library in Bella Vista Arkansas, where she and her husband Joe retired from Chicagoland, gave her the chance to do good while getting first dibs on new titles. She loved the outdoors and kept a fruitful garden. Oh how she liked to cook, bake and create meals for her family and friends. She was always willing to share a recipe including ALL of the ingredients. Travel was always an adventure for her. She and Joe travelled the world after he retired and had many exciting stories to tell and made many friends along the way. Her circle of friends were like family to her and she cherished the times they spent together, but family was always her top priority. Sharing her crafts, helping the grandkids, making a meal, playing a game, telling a funny story and that smile...that smile will be greatly missed.
