Dorothy Hoyt of Rogers, Arkansas passed away Monday October 7, 2024, at Legacy House in Bentonville, Arkansas. She was born in Leetonia, Ohio on August 23, 1937, to Harley and Hazel Welker, the third born of four sisters.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry; son, Kevin; her sisters, Donna Grubbs and Helen Guy; and parents-in-law, Ken and Della Hoyt.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Ken Hoyt and wife Teresa; daughter, Karla Miller and husband Tom; honorary daughter, Jessica Miller Herrick and husband Michael; seven grandchildren, Zachary and Amber Hoyt, Cameron and Sara Hoyt, Jessica Hoyt, Ethan and Karissa Hoyt, Leah and Trey Cummings, Justin Miller and fiancé Madison Rouse, and Jordan Miller and fiancé Azenay Tell; seven great grandchildren; sister Mary Lou Breedlove; sister-in-law, Nancy and husband Tuck Chaffee and many special nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Rogers, Arkansas. Dorothy moved to Rogers in 1961 with her husband and son, Ken. She was a devoted wife and mother. After her son, Kevin was born with special needs she devoted herself to making sure he lived his best life. She was always an advocate for Kevin and made sure he received the best care possible. When Kevin moved to Life Styles in 1992 she became very involved in the mission of Life Styles and devoted countless hours volunteering and supporting Life Styles.
Dorothy loved her children, grandchildren, and friends. She had a kind and gentle spirit and a generous heart. She was very proud of her home and enjoyed spring days and working in her back yard. A very independent woman, she worked as a property manager for Bogle Properties until age 85…despite her children constantly reminding her that she needed to retire! She was very fond of her "Bogle Properties" family!
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Life Styles, Inc., 2590 W. Sycamore, Fayetteville, AR 72703; Circle of Life Hospice, 1201 NE Legacy Parkway, Bentonville, AR 72712; or a charity of your choice.
Arrangements are by Benton County Memorial Park and Funeral Home.
