Edgar L.
Gloer
d. Nov 1, 2026
Rogers, Arkansas
Edgar Louis Gloer, 84, of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 19, 1942, in Batesville, Arkansas, to Edgar and Caunita Stokes Gloer. Edgar grew up in Mountain Home, where he was a standout on the football field and helped his team win a championship his junior year, an achievement that earned him a place in the Mountain Home High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Though he was offered a football scholarship to Arkansas Tech University, Edgar chose instead to serve his country in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1964, with time stationed in South Korea and Japan. He continued in the Air Force Reserve until 1967, reaching the rank of Airman First Class. On March 2, 1965, he married Norma Boyd in Mountain Home, and that same year he became a licensed master carpenter. In 1967, he earned his jet engine certification, but his heart was always in building homes, the work he loved for the rest of his life. Edgar was a talented craftsman who could do just about anything he set his hands to. He made traditional and primitive bows and handmade knives, including a special knife and box for his son-in-law. He loved team roping and calf roping, and he was a member of the American Legion. Edgar was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Caunita Stokes Gloer.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Norma Boyd Gloer; his daughters, Jennifer Gloer and Tom Oldham, and Kristi McCutcheon and her husband, Layne; his granddaughter, Brianna McCutcheon; and his great-granddaughter, Josie Laine Dillion; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
No services are planned at this time. Edgar will be laid to rest in a private family inurnment at Fayetteville National Cemetery. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Benton County Memorial Park & Funeral Home.
