Ernest “Joe” Neil, 91, of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away in his home on September 15, 2026. He was born on April 28, 1935, in Lowell, Arkansas to the late Garland & Gladys Neil.

Joe graduated from Rogers High School, where he was voted “Most Witty” by his classmates, a title that would prove fitting throughout his life. He attended Connors State College in Oklahoma on a full football scholarship and later proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Joe was an entrepreneur and businessman. Early in his career, Joe built and operated the first nursing home in Rogers. He later spent more than 30 years with Shelter Insurance, building a successful career as an award-winning agent before retiring.

Joe loved to travel and see the world. He especially enjoyed taking countless cruises and spending summers in Alaska. Wherever he went, Joe brought his positivity, big personality and unmistakable sense of humor with him. A habitual jokester, he never missed an opportunity to bring a little fun to the occasion. His quick wit was matched by a generous heart and a gracious spirit.

More than anything, Joe treasured his family and his faith in Jesus. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the most important part of his life and the source of many of his happiest memories. His faith grew stronger with each passing year; he knew his home was in Heaven & looked forward to meeting Jesus.

Joe is survived by his son, Kevin Neil (Judy), and daughter, Terri Yockey (Walter); grandchildren, Kyle Blevins (Kylee), Jacob Yockey (Christina), Jaton Jones (Christian), and Chandler Davis (Justin); great-grandchildren, Banks, Baylor, and Baker Blevins, Parker and Gray Yockey, Hayden Hise, Elin Jones, and Beckham and Rowan Davis; brother-in-law, Leon Chadwick as well as many other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Neil; his parents, Garland and Gladys Neil; his sisters, Sharon Easterling (Rex) and Janis Chadwick; and his Uncle, Taylor Neil, who held a special place in his life.

Joe’s life was filled with accomplishment, adventure, laughter, generosity, faith, and love. His family and friends will remember the countless memories made with the man who always knew how to make life a little more fun. While he will be deeply missed, his family finds peace in knowing that they will one day be reunited with him in Heaven.

A service celebrating Joe’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Chapel on the Creeks, 5202 Village Parkway, Rogers, Arkansas.
