Obituary

Frances Kay Mossberger, 86, of Fayetteville, passed away February 8, 2024, at the Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Kansas City, Mo., on April 24th, 1937, to Irvin Lesley and Zella Estes Goforth. She grew up in St. Louis, Mo., where she met and married the late Harry Stanley Mossberger to whom she would remain happily married for 58 years. She was a devoted mother to three sons and worked as a homemaker until she bought and rebuilt the Springdale, Ar. H&R Block office in 1972, successfully running it for a decade. Kay then followed Harry to Oregon in support of his lifelong dream of becoming a plant manager. They moved to California where she again started and successfully ran her own Tax Office as an Enrolled Agent before moving back to Arkansas, where she worked as a Tax Professional until the age of 85. Kay loved to travel, having lived in Germany in her early years with Harry who was stationed there in the military, and then to Jamaica, England, Ireland and Puerto Rico later in life. She also traveled extensively within the United States, the Oregon coast being one of her favorite places. She liked to play golf, loved her garden (especially her tulips) and the cardinals and hummingbirds that spent time there, cherished creating memories with her grandchildren, and enjoyed reading a wide array of literature over the years. She gave generously to many causes close to her heart. Kay was a Christian and a much loved member of Cross Church Fayetteville.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry; her daughter-in-law, Kristi Mossberger; and her grandson, Jacob Mossberger. Kay is survived by her brother, Dan Goforth, of Indiana; her three sons: Brent Stanley Mossberger and his wife, Terri, of Rogers; Douglas Harry Mossberger of Fayetteville; and Dale Alan Mossberger and his wife, Jackie, of Novato, California; five grandchildren: Audrey Mossberger-Iyer of Arlington, Virginia; Stacy Brown of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Sarah Mossberger of Lowell; Charlie Mossberger of Austin, Texas; and Rhea Mossberger of Novato, California; three great grandchildren: Michael and Kaylynn Carter, and Britani Mossberger; and many other friends and loved ones.

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." (1 Corinthians 13-4:8)
