Gearolyn L. Thompson, 85, of Rogers, Arkansas passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023 in Bentonville, Arkansas. She was born December 27, 1937 in Liberal, Kansas to the late L.R. and Hettie Gray Diehl. Gearolyn was a resident of Liberal, Kansas for most of her life where she graduated from high school in 1955. Gearolyn married her high school sweetheart, Edward Thompson, June 8, 1958 in Liberal, Kansas. Gearolyn and Edward attended Kansas State University and graduated in 1959 together. After graduation she returned to Liberal, Kansas to start a family and open her own business. After retiring in 1994, her and Edward relocated to Rogers, Arkansas. She was an active member of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, holding various offices and participating in the Chancel and Bell Choirs, as well as the food pantry. Gearolyn was a leader with the Boy Scouts of America for many years, earning the Silver Beaver Award and the Wood Badge Award. She was preceded in death by her brother, and sister.
Gearolyn is survived by her husband, Edward Thompson; sons, Jeffrey D. Thompson and his wife, Marilyn of Emporia, Kansas, Eric D. Thompson and his wife, Kendra of Bentonville, Arkansas, Todd E. Thompson and his wife, Lela of Tyler, Texas, Craig P. Thompson and his wife, Kelle of Winfield, Kansas; Nine Grandchildren, and one great granddaughter.
Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 4, 2023 at First Christian Church, 905 S. 13th , Rogers, Arkansas. Inurnment to follow at the First Christian Church Columbarium. Memorials and donations may be made to the First Christian Church food pantry (479) 636-2230. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Benton County Memorial Park & Funeral Home (479) 636-2412.
