George Spangler, age 87 of Rogers, passed away November 22, 2010. George was born November 8, 1923 at Kansas City, Missouri to parents Lewis B Spangler and Mary B. Chipman Spangler. As a young man, George served in The United States Army during World War II. George continued his service in the United States Air Force after completing his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University. George was united in marriage to Nola Darling on June 29, 1955 at Fakingham, England. They enjoyed over 55 years of marriage. In later years, George went to work at the US Department of Agriculture, where he advanced to regional manager, retiring in 1978. After retirement, George was a longtime resident of Northwest Arkansas and enjoyed fishing and hunting. George was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Rod Spangler and son in law, Gale Watts. He is survived by his wife, Nola of Rogers; sons, Jim Spangler of Bismarck, North Dakota and Larry Spangler of St. Charles, Missouri; daughter, Sally Watts of Kimberling City, Missouri; daughter in law, Evelyn Spangler; grandchildren, Jim G. Spangler, Chris Spangler, Ben Spangler and wife Kelsey, Shelly Reynolds, Renae Bowman, Randy Bowman and wife Kelsey; great grandchildren, Manhatten Spangler, Benjamin Reynolds, Zoe Bowman, Shelby Reynolds, Carly Spangler and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside Services are set for 2:00 P.M., Monday, November 29, 2010 at Benton County Memorial Park of Rogers. Chaplain David Hadsell will officiate followed by military honors. The family has asked that memorial donations be made to the Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville. Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home of Rogers is handling arrangements.
