Obituary

Glenda Ruth Richert, 77, of Elkins passed away on October 28, 2026. She was born on January 6, 1949, in Hazel Valley, Arkansas.

Glenda lived in the Elkins area for most of her life. In 1968, she briefly moved to Minnesota and lived there for five years before returning to Arkansas. She spent most of her life as a homemaker, tending to her family with steady love and care. Her family was at the center of her life. Glenda was especially proud of her marriage to her husband, Frank Richert. They shared 50 years together before his passing in 2017. Their story began at a bake sale, where Frank bought her apple pie, and from that beginning they built a lasting life together. She also deeply loved her children, Duane and John, and devoted herself to her home and family.

She was incredibly kind and joyful-hearted, and caring for others came naturally to her. Glenda always wanted to make sure those around her were well-fed and taken care of. She loved to cook, sometimes in great abundance, because cooking was one of the ways she showed her love. She also enjoyed shopping and was an avid collector of Christmas houses, dolls, and Barbies.

Glenda was a devout member of Crystal Hills Family Fellowship Church in Elkins for more than 40 years. Over the years, she faithfully served her church as secretary and treasurer. Her dedication to her church reflected the same servant’s heart that shaped every part of her life.

Those who knew Glenda will remember her warmth, her generous table, her joyful spirit, and the thoughtful way she cared for others. Her life was a blessing to her family, her church, and her community.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Martha Shackelford, and loving husband, Frank Richert.

Glenda is survived by: sons, Duane Richert (Marla) of Elkins, and John Richert (Pam) of Lowell; siblings, Kathy Baker (Billy) of Elkins, and Wayne Shackleford (Cindy) of Hazel Valley; grandchildren, Brittany Vaught of Pittsburg, PA, Brandon Richert of Springdale, Shani Merriman of Grove, OK, Shayleen Richert of Lowell, Ashlynn Farr of Fort Smith, Allyson Richert of Elkins, Jessica Richert of Springdale, Angela Richert of Springdale, Caden Richert of Elkins, and Ron Richert of Elkins; and great-grandchildren, Rayleigh, Braxton, Spencer, and Oliver.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Crystal Hills Family Fellowship, 10602 AR-16, Elkins, Arkansas 72727. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Crystal Hills Family Fellowship. Interment will follow at Hazel Valley Cemetery, 16472 Hazel Valley Road, Fayetteville, Arkansas 72701.
