Obituary

Harold Earl Bryan, 93, of Huntsville, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2025 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Born on September 25, 1931, in Happy, Texas, to the late Homer and Dorotha Bryan, he grew up working on the family farm, a foundation for his lifelong connection to the land. In the early 1950s, Harold served as a medic in the Korean War, returning home to marry Cherilee Joy Wood. Together, they nurtured a growing family while farming near Happy, Texas, and later in Arkansas, where they raised turkeys. The early 1970s brought them to New Mexico, where Harold's passion for cattle ranching flourished alongside his operation of a feed mill, supplying local farmers and ranchers. By the mid-1980s, he returned to Arkansas, his heart tied to cattle ranching, a joy he spoke of often even after his health limited his work. Cherilee, his beloved first wife, passed away in 2009, leaving a profound loss. After a few years, he found love again and married Charlotte Smith, sharing joyful years travelling, checking cattle, and listening to music. A man of deep faith, he cherished reading his Bible, learning about God, and living his beliefs. Harold's humor was legendary; with a one-liner for every moment, he often left friends and family doubling over in laughter. He loved hunting in Colorado's mountains, travelling, playing guitar and harmonica, singing, and time with loved ones, proudly declaring, "I have the best family there is!" In addition to his parents and his first wife, Cherilee Joy Bryan, he was preceded in death by his second wife, Charlotte Lou Bryan in 2023.

He is survived by his daughter, Joy Mathias and her husband, James; sons, Justin Bryan and his wife, Lori, Jim Bryan and his wife, Laura; daughter, Jerine Brown and her husband, Gary; twenty grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; brother, Roy Bryan; Charlotte's family; beloved family and friends.
