IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Helen Lucille
Shaw
March 30, 1929 – August 16, 2010
Helen Shaw passed away Monday morning, August 16, 2010 at the age of 81. She was an incredible mother and grandmother of 4 sons (Kenny and wife Lee, Ron, Mike and wife Pam, and Tom), 2 daughters (Becki and Kathy), 9 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. She has many nieces and nephews also. Helen was born on March 30, 1929 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Kenneth and Mildred Bowen. Interestingly, she was one of six children also with 4 brothers (Bill, Steve, Jack, and Tom) and a sister (Kay). She grew up with the nickname of "Hi". She married Ronald Shaw in 1949 and they moved to Rogers, Arkansas in 1962. She attended St. Andrews Episcopal Church. Helen was primarily a stay at home mother. She was a great cook. In fact, one of her jobs for a few years was to cook business lunches, new meals, and foods in the headquarters offices of Tyson Foods. She also worked in real estate for a few years. But her main job was always to be a mother and grandmother. She attended hundreds of school events, baseball, softball, football, band concerts, and others with all of her kids. She taught her children very early in life that love was more important than money, and that they should be open minded about ideas and people. An early lesson that her kids all learned was to treat everyone as an equal - never say anything demeaning about a person because of their ethnicity, color, religion, or anything else. Helen loved Northwest Arkansas and rarely left the area in the 48 years that she lived here. All of her children and grandchildren now reside here or consider it home. She will be remembered by a large family and many friends as a loving and kind person who loved everyone and in return was loved by all of them. Her death was preceded by her loving daughter Kathy with whom she will now rejoin. Memorial Services are set for 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at St Andrew's Episcopal Church of Rogers, Arakansas. Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home of Rogers is handling arrangements.
