Herbert T "Bud" Bernthal, Jr. died peacefully at his home on May 7, 2022 at the age of 95.

Herbert is survived by his wife, Shirley, and their four children: daughter Sandy Kling and husband Ron in Milwaukee, WI; daughter Susan Brisiel and husband Bob in Fayetteville, AR; daughter Vicki Schiro in Okemos, MI; and son David Bernthal and wife Beth in New London, WI; along with 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Herbert was born in Stuttgart, AR on August 29,1926 to Reverend Herbert T. and Lorena Bernthal. His family later moved to Greenfield WI where he met and married Shirley Jensen. Bud, Shirley and their children previously lived in Franklin, WI and Appleton, WI before retiring to Rogers, AR where they lived for the past 30 years.

Bud's family and friends all remember him as a loyal, loving man of principle, forever living his life as a servant of the Lord and appreciating the people around him. He was well known for his hearty handshake with a smiling face and commenting "I am so happy to see you." When good- byes were appropriate he always added "May the Lord go with you."
Herb and Shirley enjoyed many days with family and friends at their trailer on the Oconto River near Chute Pond, WI where many fond memories were made. One of the many gifts they gave their children was a great love of the outdoors, whether camping, hunting, fishing or just having a morning picnic.

Herb and Shirley were faithful and very involved members of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, including Bud's many years singing in the choir, teaching bible studies, serving as an elder, assisting with building/grounds maintenance or welcoming all newcomers. When Herbert's health began to decline, they moved to the Gardens of Arkanshire, Springdale, AR to be closer to their daughter, Susan, and her family.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, June 4th at 10:30 am at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Rogers, AR. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Herbert's life. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Holy Trinity Church.
