James David Stayton, affectionately known as Jim, passed away on August 12, 2026, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born on February 4, 1951, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas to Lee and Juanita (Brown) Stayton.
Jim moved from Walnut Ridge in his early years, relocating to Northwest Arkansas and residing here for over forty years. Jim was the embodiment of a happy-go-lucky soul, always ready with a clever prank. With a knack for fixing anything, he was truly a jack-of-all-trades. His mechanical expertise not only defined his successful career but also was invaluable to those who relied on his resourcefulness over the years. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed riding horses and spending time outdoors.
Jim leaves behind a loving family who will miss him dearly. He is survived by his sons, Brett Stayton, Bart Stayton, and Edward Stayton; his sisters, Dora Martin (Jeff), Geraldine Gatewood, and Wanda Deegan; and his brother, Eddie Dean Stayton. He is also survived by many grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Stayton, as well as his siblings, Bill Stayton, Cleo Stayton, Tom Stayton, Carol Hankins, and Mary Langston.
Cremation arrangements are under the care of Benton County Memorial Park & Funeral Home.
