IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joan
Corliss
December 20, 1933 – April 12, 2020
Joan Van Vliet Corliss of Rogers passed away Sunday, April 12th in Sonora, Arkansas. Joan Corliss was born in the Panama Canal Zone on December 20nd, 1933 to parents Walter and Ruth Van Vliet. She was 86 years old and is preceded in death by her husband, John Basil Corliss Jr. and her son, John Basil Corliss III. She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Corliss Everett and son-in-law Steven Everett, three grandchildren, Chad Everett, Kristen Thompson, and Kelsie Everett, and four great-grandchildren, Kylie Thompson, Kayden Everett, Kyler Everett, and Briggs Thompson. Spending nearly half her life in the tropics, she was always a fan of calypso music and a good bananas foster. She loved to get all dressed up and go out for a dance and a dirty martini, extra dry before dinner. She is best known for her colorful, bright style of clothing and jewelry and her loud, infectious laugh. She was an avid traveler, visiting the Caribbean often with her husband Jack, and was a trooper with whatever adventure her grandkids wanted to drag her along on. Corliss cared very deeply about every person she befriended and will be missed by many. Referred to for many years as "Nanny", this bird-watching, sunshine-loving, hibiscus-growing, lovely soul will be remembered so fondly by those who knew her. Funeral arrangements are still pending at this time.
