Joseph Werth Hewgley 1933-2018 Joseph Werth (Joe) Hewgley, of Rogers, Arkansas died Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Arkansas. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Demerise Hewgley, his sons Joseph Charles Hewgley and Kevin Neil (wife Judy); his daughters Suzanne Hewgley Smith and Teri Yockey (husband Walter); his granddaughters Lindsey Caitlin Smith, Jaton Neil, and Chandler Rooks; his grandsons Brandon DeFelice (wife Nathalie), Kyle Blevins (wife Kylee), and Jacob Yockey, as well as his great-grandchildren Parker Yockey, Banks Blevins, Baylor Blevins, imminently Baker Scott Blevins, and Beckham Rooks; his sister-in-law Sidney Hewgley; niece Gail Ferguson, and brother-in-law Jack Shaner. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie Anne DeFelice, his brother Tom Hewgley, and his parents, Marie Werth Hewgley and Joseph Randall Hewgley. Joe was born June 19, 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri. His family moved to Houston, Texas, where he helped support his family with a paper route during World War II while his father was serving in the Navy. After the war the family moved to Rogers, Arkansas where his father started a Tom's Peanuts distributorship. Joe was a 1952 graduate of Rogers High School, where he served in student government and played football and basketball. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas and served as an officer in the U.S. Army. After working as a junior high school coach he returned to Rogers, where he worked in the insurance industry before entering the family business. He led the business into a successful area-wide enterprise. Over many years he raised cattle, which he particularly enjoyed. He was extremely interested in our government, working to elect conservative leaders all his adult life. He established Soul's Harbor, a ministry for homeless men, and faithfully served there many years. Joe was a devout man of Christian faith and an active member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He served many years on the International Mission Board. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the global outreach ministry of Immanuel Baptist Church of Rogers. Visitation will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church of Rogers Thursday, December 27 from 6 - 8 p.m. Private burial will be Friday, December 28 at Benton County Memorial Park Cemetery, with a public memorial service to follow Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church of Rogers, located at: 2555 S. 26th Street.
