Larry Carter Shivel, 72, of Springdale passed away Dec. 4, 2013 at Circle of Life Hospice. He was born on March 4, 1941, in Emporia, Kan., to Delbert and Virginia Sumner Shivel. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jon and brother, Bobby. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Springdale, Ark. Survivors include his wife, Rhea of Springdale; son, Shannon of Greene, Maine; four grandchildren, Jonathan, Kristen and Carter Shivel of Winona, Miss., and Zack Shivel and great-grandson, Zander of Walthall, Miss. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Springdale on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to the FUMC Bread of Life, the FUMC Foundation or to the Circle of Life Hospice.
