Lázaro Salazar Mata, 48, passed away on April 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on December 17, 1977, and lived a life defined by hard work, laughter, and deep devotion to those he loved most.
Lázaro was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Selida, and a proud and loving father to his three daughters, Carina, Cassandra, and Kelly Salazar, and his stepson, Jorge Alberto. His children were the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He was also like a father to many of his daughters’ friends, always offering guidance, support, and a warm, welcoming presence in their lives. Lázaro was deeply connected to his roots in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, where his spirit felt most at home. He carried the traditions, values, and pride of his homeland with him wherever he went. Whether visiting or sharing stories of his life there, he found joy, peace, and a strong sense of identity in the place that helped shape who he was. He is survived by his father, Olegario Salazar; his brothers, Marcelino Gonzalez, Filemon Gonzalez, and Modesto Salazar; and his sister, Martina Salazar. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews: Diana Salazar, Brian Salazar, Alex Salazar, Adriana Gonzalez, Ivan Gonzalez, Christian Gonzalez, and Alondra Salazar; his grandson, Edwin; and his great-niece and great-nephew, Aiden Lee and Avery Rose, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his mother, Perfecta Gonzalez, who passed away on February 19, 2024. Lázaro was known for his strong work ethic and unwavering determination. No matter the challenge, he faced life with courage and resilience, often reminding those around him of his favorite saying, “¡Ánimo!”—a call to keep going, stay strong, and overcome whatever obstacles may come. He had a gift for bringing joy to others. Whether through his jokes, his laughter, or simply his presence, Lázaro had a way of lighting up a room and making people feel at ease. He loved spending time with his family, creating memories that will forever live on in their hearts. Lázaro fought bravely until the very end, showing incredible strength and courage. His life is a reminder to all who knew him that even in the face of hardship, we can find the strength to carry on. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the legacy he leaves behind—a legacy of love, perseverance, and unity. In his spirit, may we continue to support one another, find strength in family, and remember that together, we can overcome anything.
He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. “¡Ánimo!”
