Obituary

Leon Darwin Braddy, 79, of Fayetteville, died Wednesday, Nov. 2, in Fayetteville at the Willard Walker Hospice Home. He was born April 28, 1932, at Heber Springs to Guy and Nellie Eason Braddy. He grew up in Cleveland County. He was a Korean War veteran, and completed a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, specializing in poultry at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He worked in research at the U of A while working toward a master's degree with emphasis in poultry pathology. He was recruited to work with Joe Ray Poultry in Danville and worked in the poultry industry until his retirement in 1992. He lived in Danville for 50 years, where he and his family were members of Danville United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Pam Hiatt, and son-in-laws, Frank Hiatt and Jay Haney. Survivors include two daughters, Tamara Brickey and husband Charles, and Ginger Haney, both of Fayetteville; grandchildren Ross Hiatt, Hong Kong; Catherine Hiatt, Houston, TX; Libbey Haney, Jackson Hole, WY.; Catherine Breland, Jackson, MS; and Lee Haney, Fayetteville; cousin, James Eason and Vena of Searcy; and aunt, Julia Hooten and family of Heber Springs, and Vic Braddy and family of Ft Smith. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials can be sent to the Danville United Methodist Church in Danville, AR and the Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville, AR.
