Leona Mae Ball (née Boyd), born on November 11, 1938, in Bentonville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2024, at the age of 85, in Rogers, Arkansas.
Leona graduated from Bentonville High School in 1956 and devoted many years of her career as a dedicated Secretary for Cooper Communities. After retirement, she embarked on numerous travels with her husband, Bill, exploring the grandeur of National Parks, and the diverse cultures of Alaska, Hawaii, Europe, and many other countries. These journeys were often family affairs, including road trips across the country in their motorhome, accompanied by her daughter and grandkids, and her brother Bill and sister-in-law Beverly.
Leona was a passionate photographer, and captured countless memories and scenic views, preserving the moments she cherished with her family. She collected unique rocks from her travels, which she used to create a beautiful rock garden at her home. She expressed her love through food, always ready to feed her grandkids and pass down family recipes.
Leona was a gentle, nurturing, and kind-hearted woman, remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. Family was her utmost priority and the core of her existence.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Ball; daughter, Sandi Ball Carpenter; stepdaughters, Della Peters and Gogi Reynolds; grandchildren, Jordan Carpenter, Cade Carpenter, Bryan Ball, Trudy Waltz, and Jamie Wentz; brother-in-law, Gene Phillips; brother and sister-in-law, Milton and Brenda Ball; sister-in-law, Sue Ball; and 13 nieces and nephews. Leona was preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle Woods Boyd and Edwin Boyd; brothers, Bill and Beverly Boyd, and Thomas and Clarice Boyd; sister, Emily Boyd Phillips; sisters in law, June and Clyde Bohannon, and Shirley and Roger Gross; brothers in law, Jim and Tommie Ball, and Darrell Ball; and daughter, Sheila Ball.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Leona can be made to Circle of Life at Circle of Life Donations . Leona's life and legacy will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
Visitation will occur Wednesday, August 7th, 2024 9:00-10:00 am
