Loy "Gene" Cunningham, an ex Marine and WWII Veteran, passed away at the age of 91, in the Fayetteville VA Hospital, July 14, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edward Cunningham and Goldie Edith Adams Cunningham, one son, Charles Mason Cunningham; one brother, Louie Ruble and one sister, Linda Cunningham Evans. Gene is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Richards Cunningham, whom he met, fell in love with and married August 10, 1946. Betty as she is known, resides with their daughter, Deborah Loy Cunningham Carson and husband Christopher Carson in Glendale, Arizona; sister, Wanda Cunningham-Havner of Norfolk, Arkansas; two grandsons, Edward Hanson and wife Kristen of Glendale and Chad Hanson of Virginia Beach, Virginia; four great grand-daughters, and three great grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Gene was an artist by trade and a lover of art. He bought a farm in the Yellville area where he lived and raised cattle and horses. He liked getting together with family and friends and telling stories of when they were young. He enjoyed fishing and floating the Buffalo River and getting with his brother, while playing and listening to country music. He never knew a stranger and all were welcome at his home. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. Memorial services will be at a later date. Arrangements are with Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home of Rogers.
