Obituary

Marlys Yvonne Harpole, age 88 of Garfield, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2019 at Circle of Life Hospice at Legacy Village, Bentonville, Arkansas. She was born on June 16, 1931 in Noonan, North Dakota to Norval Gochanour and Mabel (Peterson) Gochanour. From the age of five, Marlys and her siblings were raised by a single mother who made sure all her children were in church whenever the doors were open. As a small child, she enjoyed singing in church and playing the piano. She became a Christian at a young age and that faith sustained her until she took her last breath. Following graduation from Noonan High School in 1949, Marlys moved to Seattle, Washington. She married Samuel "Jerry" Harpole at her mother's home in Seattle on January 12, 1952. After owning a grocery store and butcher shop in the Seattle area for about 10 years, the couple and their three children moved to Garfield, Arkansas. Up until her death, they still lived together on the same farm they bought in Garfield in the summer of 1967. Before retiring, Marlys worked at several places including Gene's IGA in Bentonville and Arvest Bank in Rogers. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family and cherished time with them. She attended countless school and sporting events thru the years to support her children, grandchildren and even her great-grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
