Obituary

Maxine Edith Smith Bushee, age 93, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2021, at Promenade Health and Rehab. She was born in Cherryvale, Kansas on April 21, 1927, the second daughter of Chalmer Otis Smith and Martha Mae Berkenmeier Smith. The family moved to Chicago, Illinois, when Maxine was two years old. Maxine married Roger Andrew Bushee in a double wedding ceremony on June 20, 1947, in the West Pullman Methodist Church at 120th Street and Normal Avenue in Chicago. Her older sister, Martha Marie Smith, married Donald Ralph Johnson, three minutes before Maxine and Roger were married. The Bushees bought their first house in Palos Heights, Illinois , in 1950, where they lived for 40 years and 11 months before moving to Bella Vista, Arkansas on May 31, 1991. Maxine was a homemaker, a Postal Clerk, a Church Choir Member, a Sweet Adeline and a Girl Scout Leader. She loved to sing, sew, knit, crochet, play golf and bridge. Mrs. Bushee is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roger A Bushee, and daughter, April Arambasich. Mrs. Bushee was survived by two daughters, Debra Bradley, Penny Miller and husband Kenneth, and son-in-law, Thomas Arambasich; three grandchildren, Derek Andrew Wolfe, Claire Elise Rosenbaum husband Eric Eason and Leah Frances Rosenbaum husband Eli Peckerman.
