Obituary

Our beloved Merilyn Alice Davis passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 1, 2011 after complications of a stroke. Merilyn was born November 27, 1930 in Montreal, Canada, to Walter John and Georgena (Preddy) Montignani. Merilyn married Archie C. Davis on May 8, 1952. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an 18 month old son Randall McTavish Davis, her step-son David E. Davis and brother in law, Russell Lohbeck. She is survived by her sisters Valerie Lohbeck of West Fork, Arkansas and Georgina Mead and husband Kenneth of Phoenix, Arizona. Merilyn left 6 of her beautiful children: Walter J. Davis and wife Sharon of Okemos, Michigan, Carol J. Stehlik and husband James of Springdale, Arkansas, Gail R. Hayes and husband John of Rogers, Arkansas, Archie M. Davis and wife Kristina of Lansing, Michigan, Merilyn R. Bottorff and husband Allen of Middleton, Wisconsin and Daniel E. Davis and wife Tamara of Springdale, Arkansas and daughter in law, Lesha Davis. Merilyn was blessed with 16 wonderful grandchildren, Sunday, Dustin, Daxton, & Donna and Emily Davis, Patrick Ingram, Andrea Emerson and husband Keith, Sine Hayes and wife, Erika, Rebecka Hayes, Justin, Jacob, Jordan Farr, Zachary and Ezekiel Bottorff and Nicole and Sarah Davis. Her 10 great grandchildren who were the joys of her life: Sloan, Derick, Azailiss, Luke, Adia, Drake,Davis, Kaleigh, Roslyn, Alexandra and one great great grandchild, Bryndelyn. Merilyn led a very full and active life. She was a full time parent and a registered nurse. Her career as a nurse included 17 years for the VA Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas, retiring in 1985. Merilyn's hands were never idle. Her life was filled with many hobbies and interests such as quilting, teaching, reading, knitting, crocheting, collecting books and collectable tins and producing beautiful pieces of stained glass. Merilyn was passionate about her plants and loved sharing the crops she reaped. Once she retired, she became active in many clubs and organizations including: The Writing Circle of Phoenix, Stained Glass Maker for the windows in St. Mary's Episcopal Church of Glendale, Arizona, West Fork Quilters, Pieces and Patches of Rogers, Master Gardeners of Benton County, Golden Agers of West Fork, Home Extension Club of Prairie Grove, Sew N Sew Club of Rogers, the Literacy Council of Benton County as an ESL Tutor. Merilyn chose to be cremated and will be laid to rest with her husband in the National Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona at a later date. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at the St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Rogers, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers donations in Merilyn's name may be made to Circle of Life Hospice Group of Northwest Arkansas or St. Andrew's Episcopal Church of Rogers. Arrangements are with Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home and Crematory of Rogers. Memorial 1:00 PM Saturday, May 14th, 2011
