Opal Lea Hancock, 82, of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away Monday, March 16, 2026, at Promenade Health and Rehabilitation in Rogers. She was born March 7, 1944, in Osage, Carroll County, Arkansas, to the late Bill and Leona Martin Slape. A woman of faith, Opal was known for her unwavering devotion to her family and her profound love as a wife and mother. She married Herbert Hancock on October 14, 1963, and their marriage spanned nearly sixty-three years before his passing. Opal dedicated over twenty-six years of her life to her work as an Assistant Buyer at Walmart, where she was renowned for her loyalty, dedication and exceptional work ethic.

In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Hancock; her brother, Harvey Slape; her nieces: Sherry Slape and Sandra Keeter and her nephew, Rick Slape.

She is survived by her son, Herbert Mitchell Hancock of Atlanta, Georgia; her sisters: Clitha Roberts of Bella Vista, Arkansas and Dottie Rentfro of Dover, Arkansas; her nieces: Rita Moore of Harrison, Arkansas and Cassie Elliott of Siloam Springs, Arkansas and her nephews: Rob Slape of Harrison, Arkansas and Randy Milam of Rogers.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Benton County Memorial Park & Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Benton County Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Randy Milam, Tri Milam, Scott Elliott and Timmy Trotter. The family extends a warm invitation to all who knew Opal to join them in celebrating her life and sharing cherished memories.
