Owen Wilson Griggs Jr, 85, of Centerton, Arkansas passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025 in Rogers, Arkansas. He was born on May 21, 1939 in Dickson, Tennessee to the late Owen Sr and Augusta Griggs. Owen grew up in many different cities in Tennessee until settling in Athens, Alabama where he graduated from Athens Bible School in 1958. Owen married Carol Caine on July 17, 1964, and moved to Birmingham, Alabama. In 1965, they moved out west to Wells, Nevada. In 1967, they moved to Athens, Alabama where they remained until 2018 when they moved to Arkansas.

For many years Owen was a school teacher at the East Limestone High School in Athens, Alabama. He later became a school counselor in 1990 at the Owens Elementary School until retiring in 2007. Following his retirement, he went to work for Gray & Holt Dry Goods with his family until 2018.

Owen was a loving and dedicated husband to his wife, Carol, for 58 years. Owen had great joy and love for his three sons, Bob, Lucas, and Mark. He sacrificed himself for his family all his life.

Most importantly, Owen put his faith in God first. Owen was a member of several congregations over the years. He was a member of the Jackson Drive Church of Christ in Athens, Alabama for 33 years. Of 33 years, he served as an elder for 14 years. He is a member of the Downtown Church of Christ in Rogers, Arkansas. Owen was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol Griggs.

Owen is survived by his sons, Bob Griggs, Lucas Griggs and his wife Carrie, and Mark Griggs; three granddaughters, Jordan Wise and her husband Marshall, Kendall, and Cameron Griggs.

Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 10, 2025 at Downtown Church of Christ in Rogers, Arkansas. Interment will follow at Benton County Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Rogers, Arkansas.
