Obituary

Capt. Paul N. Bruno, USN, (Ret.) Paul N. Bruno, of Bentonville AR, was born on October 5, 1952 in Sacramento, California. He grew up in Universal City, TX, and graduated from the University of Texas (Austin) in 1974. He was then commissioned as an ensign in the US Navy, and pursued a career in the Special Operations (1140) community. The Surface Warfare Officer-qualified hard hat diving officer attended Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) school. He was awarded master's degrees from both the Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island, and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, Fort McNair, Washington, D.C. During his 32-year military career, he served as Commanding Officer of the USS Reclaimer (ARS-42), Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit One (MDSU-1), Naval Weapons Station, Concord, California, and Naval Weapons Station, Seal Beach, California. His last tour of duty was spent as the Defense and Navy Attaché, US Embassy, Brasilia, Brazil. Preceded in death by his father-in-law, James R. Fox, Paul is survived by his wife of 31 years, Connie Fox-Bruno, of the home; sons James, Jason, and Joseph; brother, Joseph L. Bruno (Linda) of Seguin, Texas; mother-in-law Gwendolyn G. Fox, and brother-in-law William R. Fox both of Grand Terrace CA. His gregarious nature, sense of humor, and willingness to serve others, will be greatly missed by friends and relatives throughout the US, and the world. Private memorial services will be held.
