Obituary

Phillip "Flip" Arthur Burton, 66, of Rogers, Arkansas, peacefully passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Circle of Life Hospice Home at Legacy Village in Bentonville, Arkansas. He was born on December 6, 1957, in Inglewood, California.

Flip was a remarkable individual, finding joy in various pursuits, particularly those related to geology and science. He had a profound passion for collecting rocks and crystals. Music held a special place in Phillip's heart, and he especially enjoyed listening to classic rock bands like Jethro Tull and the Grateful Dead. Many will fondly remember him playing the guitar and flute by the river, lost in the melodies of his favorite songs.

With an intelligent and artistic soul, Flip dedicated his career to custom architectural woodwork, specializing in the Greene and Greene style but mastering all forms. His craftsmanship can be admired at the Robert R. Blacker House in Pasadena, California, where he played a significant role in its restoration. Known for his expertise in ornate staircases and custom mantels, Flip was highly sought after in his field.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Flip was a deeply knowledgeable individual, capable of engaging in quality conversations on a wide range of topics. From doctors and scientists to everyday people, he absorbed information eagerly and retained everything he learned.

Flip's love story with his wife Sharon Simmons Burton began unexpectedly in a Waffle Hut in 2001 while doing homework. They tied the knot in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, on August 20, 2004, embarking on a life filled with love and companionship.

Phillip is preceded in death by his birth parents, Arthur and Pattie Dannels, and his adopted parents, Robert and Leona Ruth Betts Burton.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Burton; children, Matthew Burton and his spouse Billie of West Hollywood, California; Jessica Burton of North Hollywood, California; Joseph Long of Cave Springs, Arkansas; Michael Wyant and his wife Cindy of Lowell, Arkansas; and David Wyant of Fayetteville, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Sarah Long, James Long, Bastien Long, Tristan Long, Finnegan Wyant, Felix Wyant, and Jasper Wyant; and one great-grandchild, Stetson Baird; two sisters, Virginia "Nini" Buffington of Fallon, Nevada, and Tanya Allen of Ozark, Arkansas; Stepfather, Robert Janatsch of Pahrump, Nevada.
