Ray G. Jefferson, age 94, passed away on Sunday, July 20th, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Jefferson was born October 13th, 1919 in Bentonville to James Harvey and Vivian Davis Jefferson. He was a life long resident of Bentonville. He graduated from Bentonville High School in 1936 and then in 1941 he was inducted into the Army where he served in WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. In December of 1951 he married Joella Carter who preceded him in death along with his parents, two sisters and two brothers. He served Benton County for 37 years, first as Tax collector and then County Treasurer from 1958 until he retired in 1984. He was a member and elder of the First United Presbyterian Church of Bentonville. He is survived by his daughter, Ramalee of Rogers, his grandson Ryan of Petaluma, CA and a sister, Ruth Ann Back of Springville, TN plus numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Benton County Humane Society 407 E Nursery, Rogers, AR 72758 or Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Rd. Springdale, AR 72762. There will be a graveside service, Friday at 10 AM at Bentonville City Cemetery under the direction of Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home. Graveside 10:00 AM Friday, July 25th, 2014
