IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard Lee
Lewis
June 18, 1936 – October 28, 2024
Richard 'Lee' Lewis, of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away on October 28, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on June 18, 1936, in Mullinville, Kansas, to the late William and Edith Lewis. Lee's early years shaped the resilient, independent, and hardworking man he became. Losing his father at a young age, Lee was raised by his mother, who taught him the values of self-reliance and determination. He left school in the eighth grade to support his family and later joined the Air Force, a decision that filled him with pride throughout his life. After his time with the Air Force, Lee joined the Army National Guard. His service was a testament to his love for his country and the people who live in it, and he retired with over 30 years of service.
Lee was a fighter with a strong spirit and was always committed to his family. At home, he was known for his steadfastness and refusal to give up, taking great care of those around him. A storyteller at heart, he loved sharing memories and laughs, delighting his family with tales from the past. His love for animals and his deep care for others were evident in every part of his life. When his beloved wife, Doris, moved into a nursing home, Lee visited her every day, determined to brighten her days and those of others. Pushing his walker down the hallways, he would bring bags of candy and treats for residents and staff alike, a reminder that caring for someone goes beyond providing necessities—it's also about making them feel cherished and loved.
Lee is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Lewis; sister, Martha Hendrix; and brother, Deric Lewis.
Lee is survived by his children, Christine Finn and husband, John, of Pheonix, Arizona; Denise Templeton and husband, Steve, Springdale, Arkansas; Barbara Childress of Bentonville, Arkansas; Jane Peoples, of Shell Knob, Missouri; Rich Lewis and wife, Kristie, of Pea Ridge, Arkansas; sister, Jackie Johnson, and husband, Art, of Fremont, Nebraska; grandson and caretaker, Adan Aguilar, of Rogers, Arkansas; many more grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and loved ones. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
