Richard Lynn Wharry, 93, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed away Friday, November 14, 2025, in Fayetteville. He was born March 18, 1932, in Pond Creek, Oklahoma, to the late Clifford Lynn Wharry and Florence Alberta Skelton Wharry. Richard worked as a signalman for Rock Island Railroad. He later worked for The Federal Railroad Administration. He married Ardith Symond Winters on March 24, 2006. Richard and Ardith attended Highlands Methodist Church in Bella Vista and Sequoyah United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. He was an avid woodworker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-four years, Carolyn Meredith Wharry and one son, Stephen Wharry.
He is survived by his wife, Ardith; his son, Donald (Jan) Wharry of Mansfield, Texas; two grandchildren, Brian (Katie) Wharry of Fort Worth, Texas and Kristin (Jeremy) Harman of Fort Worth, Texas and five great grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 15, 2025, at Butterfield Trail Village Performance Hall in Fayetteville. The family requests that memorials be made to Butterfield Trail Foundation or Sequoyah United Methodist Church of Fayetteville.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Benton County Memorial Park & Funeral Home.
