Rodney DeWayne Fulton, 72, of Rogers, Arkansas passed away July 27, 2024, in Bentonville, Arkansas. He was born on August 23, 1951, to the late Ronald and Marion Fulton in Washington, D.C. Rodney married the love of his life, Mary Kim Fulton, on February 26, 2005, in Rogers, Arkansas.
Rodney went to DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland. He was a Trinitarian brother in the Monastery of the Holy Spirit for six years. He completed a degree in Psychology and Master's Degree in Counseling/Guidance from Loyola College in Maryland. He was passionate about teaching. Before entering public school education, he was a guidance counselor at Mt. Saint Joseph High School in Baltimore, Maryland. Rodney taught adult education in the United States Army in Nuremberg, Germany, as well as at Fort Devens, Massachusetts then Fort Meade, Maryland. He later earned a B.S. E. and M.Ed. at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. He taught kindergarten through fifth grade at Rogers Public Schools (1998-2016). He earned his English Speakers of Other Languages certification from Arkansas Tech University. He achieved his National Board of Professional Teaching Standards certification in 2010. He was honored as Walmart's Arkansas State Teacher of the Year in 2000. He was loved by hundreds of students and parents.
He is survived by his wife, Kim Fulton, of the home; two sons, Jeffrey Fulton and wife Melissa of Billings, Montana, and Douglas Fulton and Lauren of Lewiston, Idaho; two step-sons, Anthony Jones and wife Tobie of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Steven Jones and wife Brittany of Gravette, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren, Devon, Aiden, Mila, and Paityn Fulton, Caleb, Avery, Bella, Atty, Steven II Jones, CJ and Tommy Short-Jones; brother; Michael Fulton and wife Susan of Cockeysville, Maryland; and sister, JoAnn Matthews of Bridgeville, Delaware.
Funeral arrangements are under the compassionate care of Benton County Memorial Park & Funeral Home. Rodney requested A Celebration of Life through Zoom which will be held in the coming months. Memorial contributions can be made to The Rogers Humane Society, 405 Nursery Rd. Rogers, AR 72758, https://nwahumanesocietyforanimals.org or a local no-kill animal shelter.
