IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sherrie
Platz
April 3, 1943 – December 16, 2022
Sherrie Ann Platz, 79, of Rogers, passed away Friday, December 16, 2022. She was born April 3, 1943 in Omaha, Nebraska. Her parents were Harold and Dorothy Waller.
Sherrie is survived by her husband William (Bill) Platz, her daughter Melissa Sample and husband Keith Sample, her son David Platz and wife Marcella Platz, her five grandchildren Josh Sample, Zach Sample, Jared (Jeb) Sample, Garrett Platz and Mya Platz, and one great granddaughter Zada Sample.
Sherrie grew up in the Omaha area. She attended both Iowa State University and Arkansas State for a stint and then finished her degree at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. It was during these collegiate years that she married her husband Bill and they made a life-long companionship.
She always loved animals and it was that love that drove her out of the city landscape to a more rural scape that had plenty of acreage. Her lifelong dream was to start a horse and dog farm and the northwest Arkansas area was the perfect place to do so. She created a wonderful place that she affectionally named "Fairy Tails Farm" where she raised Cocker Spaniels, Dalmatians and Labrador Retrievers. Many households in the area over the years had one of Sherrie's puppies. She also raised Tennessee walking horses and miniature horses and was one of the key contributors to the Equestrian shows and riding clubs in Rogers.
She loved working on her farm, raising animals, doing gardening work, and improving old homes. She received the Lifetime Member award with the Benton County Master Gardner's Club. Sherrie also was a partner in a civil engineering firm, WR Consulting that Bill and her originated and operated for more than forty years.
In lieu of flowers which Sherrie loved very much, the family requests that any memorials be made to the Rogers Humane Society, 407 East Nursery Road, Rogers, Arkansas 72756.
Any tributes, condolences, or just stories can be made to Bill or the family by email to their webpage at wrconsulting@cox.net.
