Obituary

Shirley Ann Barber, 63, passed away October 13, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Ark. She was born February 16, 1948 in Chicago, Ill., to Ralph and Ola May Graham. Shirley had many impressive careers during her lifetime, including model, flight attendant, researcher for missile guidance control systems, teacher, and owner of a world religions bookstore, but her most important titles were as mother and friend. Her spirit remained strong throughout her battle with cancer. Shortly before her passing, her goal was to go home and be with family. Her interests were as eclectic as her personality and she could be found painting, playing music or video games, and she loved music of all kinds, even often listening to hip-hop. Shirley played the organ, the lap harp, the mandolin and many other instruments. Shirley is survived by her brother Jerry Graham, her son Jinx Barber and his wife Jena, her two granddaughters Kali and Cadence, and the many friends that she made along the way. Shirley's memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at First United Methodist Church in Springdale. Memorials may be made to the FUMC Foundation in Shirley's name (206 W.
