Steve Showalter, age 55, a resident of Vinita, Oklahoma, passed away, Saturday, July 23, 2011 at his home in Vinita. Steve was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on February 20, 1956 to Charles Wesley Showalter and Shirley (Shaw) Showalter. On July 8, 1997 he married Paula Keech in Vinita, Oklahoma and they were married for over 14 years before his death. Steve served his country in the United States Navy and received an honorable discharge. Steve was known in Vinita as the junk hauler and he would always try to help anyone he could. Steve loved his family and he will be missed very much. Preceded in death by his parents, Steve is survived by his wife Paula Showalter of the home in Vinita, Oklahoma; three brothers, Mike Showalter of Oklahoma; Rick Showalter and wife Tina of Kansas; Wesley Showalter and wife Becka of Missouri; three sisters, LuAnn Showalter of Tennessee; Teresa Thompson and husband Pete of Kansas; Sherry Davis and husband Gene of Kansas; one step-brother, David Prather of Kansas; two Step-sisters, Connie Thompson of Nevada; Mary Bowland of Arizona; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Memorial services will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at the Apostolic Life Tabernacle Church on 302 North Miller in Vinita, Oklahoma with Reverend Dale Stephens officiating. Inurnment will take place at the Fayetteville National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
