Obituary

Verna Lee Daugherty, 87, of Garfield, Arkansas, passed away peacefully and went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Monday, February 9, 2026.  She was born March 15, 1938, in Vancouver, Washington, to the late Robert and Wilma Renslow Miller.  She grew up with a strong faith that would guide her throughout her life. Verna married the love of her life, Floyd Daugherty, and together they enjoyed many adventures traveling The West Coast before settling in Montana. About fourteen years ago, Verna made Northwest Arkansas her home, where she embraced the beauty of the region and built new cherished connections. Verna was an avid reader never without her Bible close at hand.  She loved mystery novels that kept her mind sharp. She found joy in browsing local flea markets for treasures, spending afternoons on the deck watching birds, and above all, spending time with her family. Church was a cornerstone of her life.  She rarely missed a service, and she often shared with others: "I did my best, and I tried to do right." Verna's warmth, steadfast faith and love touched everyone around her. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 34 years, Floyd Daugherty and her son, Craig Combs.

She is survived by her four daughters: Diana Newman, Rhonda Forbis, Vicki Brown and Cindy Hawkes; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Ron Miller and a host of other loving family members and dear friends.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Benton County Memorial Park & Funeral Home.
