Vern Whittaker, age 86 of Rogers, passed away September 30, 2017. Vern was born August 1, 1931 in Careyville, Florida to parents Lonnie Whittaker and Vassie Miller Whittaker. As a young man, Vern served in the US Army during the Korean War. In more recent years he served as a Pastor and loved spreading the faith. He was preceded in death by his first Spouse, Mae Dell Whittaker; parents; sons, Stephen and James Whittaker; brothers, Leroy, Daniel and Luther and sisters, Agnes and Betty Sue. Vern is survived by his spouse, Grace Whittaker of the home; sons, Ray Whittaker and Mark McElhannon; daughters, Sharon Slaey, Martha Wong, Betty Weiss and Karen Pernudi; brother, Hurdis Whittaker; sister, Shirley Holmes; 24 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. He was dearly loved. Memorial Services are set for Noon, Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the Rogers Free Will Baptist Church.
