IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Virginia Troy
Brown
September 28, 1945 – February 13, 2025
Virginia Troy Brown, devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 13, 2025 at the age of 79. She was born in Harrison, Arkansas on September 28, 1945 to James Troy Brand, who died in the European Campaign four months prior, and Virginia Ruth Brand. After graduating from Harrison High School, Troy met John Brown, the love of her life, on a blind date. At the time she attended Teachers College in Little Rock, Arkansas. John was in the United States Coast Guard and was quickly deployed to Vietnam. Upon his return from tour, they were married in April 1968 and with their union they welcomed two children, Cyndi and Stephan. Being a proud military wife and supporter, she always had an admiration for military service men and women.
Troy will always be remembered for her love, strength, generosity and her gift of encouragement. She and John were known as "Santa and Mrs. Claus" to their family and friends. After John's passing in 2010, Troy became the most dedicated "Mrs. Claus" you can imagine to her family. Each one of us anticipated the arrival of her boxes. All filled with lovingly picked and packed Christmas stockings with thoughtfully purchased or made treasures for its recipient. She had a dedicated heart for her family, always there with a listening ear and loving advice anytime someone needed her.
Throughout the years, Troy was a passionate and professional employee to any company or position she held. Her last position was in the Clerical Department for DHS in Bentonville, Arkansas; where she blossomed once again with any task given to her. She enjoyed this position immensely and treasured the friends that became an important part of her life.
Troy had an uncanny knowledge for stats and records involving college and professional sports. Watching games or car races, whether in person or on TV, were hobbies she had loved most of her life. She was an unwavering Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Kraken fan; she even decorated her new car with Seahawk fan paraphernalia while living in Arkansas.
Troy was preceded in death by her parents, 1st Lieutenant US Army Air Corps B-17 Navigator James Troy Brand and Virginia Ruth Parkhill; her husband John Edmund Brown; daughter-in-law Dawn Brown; her sister Susan Parkhill.
She is survived by her children Cyndi Johnson (Steve), Stephan Brown (Elizabeth); her grandchildren Jessica Gray (Stacy), Erica Oakes (Todd); great-grandchildren Ava, Savannah, Aiden, Maddox, Ella and Aleksander; brother Bob Parkhill (Pam); nieces Kristin and Erica; her very loving friend Marti Taylor.
Memorial contributions can be made to Wounded Warrior Project, a cause very close to Troy's heart.
Troy's family would like to thank her friends who were faithful in visiting her throughout this last year, uplifting her and encouraging her. We would like to thank her very special friend Marti who not only was devoted to mom and her care. Also, the help she gave to Cyndi and Stephan during this difficult time. We would also like to thank the loving staff and nurses of Circle of Life Hospice, who honored mom and cared for her with tenderness until her passing.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Benton County Memorial Park & Funeral Home.
