William Glenn Pickel, age 82 of Fayetteville, Arkansas passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023 at his home. He was born on July 5, 1941 in Summit, Arkansas to the late, Herbert and Martha Gray Pickel. For nearly eight decades, Mr. Pickel was a resident of Northwest Arkansas, having relocated from his birthplace in Summit, Arkansas. On May 31, 1963, he married the love of his life, Loretta (Graves) Pickel at the First Baptist Church in Rogers, Arkansas. Glenn wore various professional hats, beginning as a reporter for the Joplin Globe and later dedicating thirty-two years of service as a claims representative for the Social Security Administration. He was a devout member of First Baptist Church in Fayetteville, where his faith played an integral role in his life. Glenn is described as a kind and gentle man with the heart of a poet. He had a unique talent for reciting poetry. Family held a special place in Glenns heart, and he devoted himself to their wellbeing. His favorite pastimes include square dancing, hiking alongside his wife, and attending his children's soccer games and band concerts. His absence will leave a void in the hearts of all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Martha Pickel; brother, Herbert Gray; and son, Glenn "Ricky" Richard Pickel.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta Pickel of Fayetteville; son, Randy Graves; daughter in law, Jennifer Graves, and their children, Logan and Connor Vaughn of Fayetteville; Daughter Laurel Pickel of Fayetteville, Arkansas; granddaughter, Madilyn Boyd of Fayetteville; and grandson, Donovan Boyd of Fayetteville.
A graveside service will be 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 13, 2023 at Benton County Memorial Park, 3800 West Walnut Street Rogers, Arkansas 72756. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Benton County Memorial Park & Funeral Home, (479) 636-2412.
