Vernon Lee Howell died peacefully in Siloam Springs Nursing & Rehabilitation Center the April 17, 2021 in Siloam Springs, Arkansas at the age of 88.

Vernon Lee Howell is survived by his wife, Beverly Ann Vernon-Howell of Stilwell, Oklahoma. children, Tammy Lee Howell-Long, Christina Laverne Howell, Rebecca Ann Martin-Scialabba and husband Johnny Scialabba, Jeanette Marie Martin-McFarland and husband Curtis McFarland. Nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by Sister Glenda (Sissy) Mae Howell, Mother Edna Mae Howell, Father Albert McCoy of Watts, Oklahoma, and Granddaughter Crystal Lynn Rogers of Gentry, Arkansas.

Vernon Lee Howell was born September 1, 1932 in Ballard, Oklahoma to Edna Mae Howell and Albert McCoy. He graduated from Watts High School in 1952. He then moved on to serve his country with the United States Army from March 2, 1953 to March 1, 1955. Later he moved to California to start a family and pursue a career in the oilfields. In 1994 he retired as Drilling Representative for Occidental Petroleum and returned home to Watts, Oklahoma.

Vernon Lee Howell was a kind, fair, trustworthy, witty, and loving person with a passion for fishing at any given opportunity. His favorite fish to catch was catfish and with a large enough amount to fry he fed everyone willing to wait. His stories of younger years, family, and afterschool rock throwing fights will be missed. He will also be forever missed and loved. Rest in peace.

A private service will be held on April 24, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. 217 N 8th St. Stilwell, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers and/or gifts please donate to your local Alzheimer’s Foundation.
