John Harris

John Harris

John began his career working for a funeral home during high school. He graduated in 1985 from Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma with a B.S. Degree in Special Arts and Sciences specializing in funeral services.

Following college, he was employed with the Mills Corporation working in several communities throughout Oklahoma. In 1993, John moved to Dallas where he was employed with Stewart Enterprises. During his tenure with Stewart, he was involved with mergers and acquisitions throughout the Southwest United States. He became General Manager of Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, the second largest funeral home in North America. In 2002, John and his wife, Carol moved to Arkansas after purchasing Buie Funeral Homes in Rison and Sheridan.

In 2003, they acquired Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home and in 2004, they acquired their fourth location, Cabot Funeral Home. In 2016, Memorial Funeral Home was their fifth funeral home, located in Springdale, Arkansas. In 2017, John and Carol acquired Thomas Funeral Service located in Cabot. Heritage Funeral Home of Springdale was added to the organization in 2019. Benton County Memorial Park & Funeral Home, located in Rogers, Arkansas was recently acquired. With this acquisition, Resthaven Pet Cemetery was included in the purchase.

John obtained his private pilot’s license in 2019. John and Carol have two children, Grace (2022 graduate of Ole Miss) and Tucker (2024 graduate of SMU). Traveling, golfing and tennis occupy the spare time away from the businesses.

Darrick D. Hock

Funeral Director Apprentice

"Darrick D. Hock is an accomplished apprentice funeral director with a unique background. With a career spanning over six years in law enforcement, Darrick transitioned into the funeral industry in 2017, bringing his dedication and service-oriented mindset to his new role. He has been an integral part of American Funeral Service since 2017, where he has contributed his expertise and compassion.

Originally from the Little Rock metro area, Darrick's journey led him to relocate to Northwest Arkansas in December 2022, embracing new challenges and opportunities. He holds the distinction of being a certified crematorium operator in the state of Arkansas, showcasing his commitment to professional excellence.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Darrick finds fulfillment in his family life. Married to his wife Kelsea since 2012, he is the proud father of two children, Landen and Gracie. With a strong foundation of service, expertise, and family values, Darrick and his family are eagerly embarking on a new chapter of their journey, dedicated to serving the Northwest Arkansas community."

Marlin Johnston

Grounds Maintenance

Marlin first came to work for us in April of 2014. He brought a lifetime of experience with him, making him a great addition to our cemetery. Having worked in many vocations from customer service to construction, he has become a very valuable asset. Marlin was raised on a farm in Ponhoniss, Iowa with 14 siblings. He moved to Rogers in 1955 where he spends his pastime in the outdoors. He loves camping, hiking, fishing and hunting and enjoys those activities as often as possible. Marlin help's to ensure that the cemetery is taken care of along with helping operate the crematory. Marlin is happy to assist in any way possible to make sure that our families are served.

Silas General

Grounds Maintenance

Silas has been with Benton County Memorial Park for several years. Silas grew up in Oregon and enjoys being outside as well as being with his family. Silas helps with operating the on-site crematory at Benton County Memorial Park. He brings lots of experience to our firm and is particularly good at running our backhoe and other heavy equipment.
